General contractor

Also: GC, construction manager

The company that builds a data center or other building for its owner and hires the trades; the data center counterpart of an EPC.

A data center campus is usually built by a general contractor, sometimes as a construction manager at risk, hired by the owner or the developer. The general contractor runs the site and hires the trades: sitework, concrete, steel, electrical, mechanical and low-voltage.

The general contractor often files the construction stormwater permit for the site's grading, which makes that filing the most common public record that names it.
